Clint Black Set for Aspen Festival

Clint Black joins an eclectic lineup in Colorado for the Janus Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day festival. Set for Aug. 29-Sept. 1, Black performs during the final night of the festival with Asleep at the Wheel and mandolinist Sam Bush. Other festival headliners include Alpha Blondy & Solar System (Aug. 29), Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (Aug. 30) and Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Aug. 31).

Messina Gets Boston Award Nominations

Jo Dee Messina now resides in the Nashville area, but the Holliston, Mass., native has picked up two nominations at this year's Boston Music Awards. Chosen in an industry poll of music critics, disc jockeys and promoters in the Boston area, Messina is nominated for female vocalist of the year in a category that includes Aimee Mann, Patty Griffin, Susan Tedeschi, Dar Williams and Kristin Hersh. Messina's "Bring on the Rain" is also nominated for song of the year. Messina has won several of the Boston awards, including an act of the year trophy in 1999. This year's Boston Music Awards show is set for Sept. 4 at the Wang Theater
